Gregory O'Toole - Hand Doctor, London

Trigger finger is caused by its tendon becoming trapped. This results in the finger being fixed in flexion. Release of the finger is a simple procedure performed under a local anaesthetic but should only be performed by an experienced surgeon.

The finger recovers very quickly from the surgery and stitches can be removed after one week.

Hand Therapy after surgery is important. It allows for the results of surgery to be maintained and uncomplicated by scar tissue. Hand therapy is available at the hospitals and clinics where this surgery is offered.
